FGV debates in São Paulo development strategies in the legal scenario

FGV's São Paulo Law School - in partnership with the Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School, the Law and the New Developmental State (LANDS) Network, the University of Wisconsin and the University of São Paulo (USP) - promotes, on July 1-4, the meeting Law and New Development Strategies: Brazil and Beyond. Restricted to invited guests, the event brings together leading experts who seek to consider new institutional processes for development promotion through law. Confirmed participants are BNDES' president, Luciano Coutinho; professors David Trubek (Winscosin), David Kennedy (Harvard), Álvaro Santos (Georgetown), Lucie White (Harvard), as well as professors Carlos Portugal Gouveia, Jean Paul Rocha and Diogo R. Coutinho from FGV, and Mario Gomes Schapiro, Mariana Pargendler and Michelle Ratton Sanchez Badin from FGV's São Paulo Law School. According to São Paulo Law School 's Law and Development professor and one of the organizers of the meeting, Mario Schapiro, the seminar covers a variety of decisive topics for development. And, by reuniting these professors, our goal is to strengthen the inclusion of Brazil in the heterodox research scenario on the topic, he explains. The event, held at the headquarters of São Paulo Law School and USP, will also be dedicated to the presentation of papers produced by master degree students from the entire country.
