The Director of FGV’s Department of Public Policy Analysis (FGV DAPP), Marco Aurelio Ruediger, has been appointed by the Brazilian Ministry of Public Safety to join the Academic Council of Public Safety. The advisory initiative brings together scholars to discuss Brazil’s situation regarding the subject, improve the quality of information, analyses and statistics, and propose public policies, specific actions and legislative reforms, among others. Members will serve a two-year term, with the possibility of extension for the same period.

The council is chaired by the Minister of Public Safety and includes 13 scholars from Brazilian universities and civil society organizations.
