FGV discusses administration in military environments with Army professor

11 July 2013

On 5 July, FGV's Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) held the lecture Unveiling Administration in Military Environments, with the Professor of the Brazilian Army Command and General Staff School (ECEME), Valentina Schmitt. During the event, organized by Professor Octavio Amorim Neto, Valentina talked about management challenges in the military field and the defense policy research carried out at EBAPE. According to her, there was a lot of public interest, comprised of civilians and military personnel from the three Forces - Army, Navy and Air Force. I could observe, while a member of ECEME's faculty, new topics to be incorporated in debates within the school, in terms of discipline, research and course structure. As a researcher, it was essential to realize that issues related to stereotypes of military environments continue quite strong, and can generate a variety of research that will enrich the academic debate, she said, who has been in ECEME for two years. The lecture was also important to promote the partnership among the institutions through the Teaching and Scientific and Technological Research in National Interest Strategic Affairs Support Program (Pro-Estratégia), which aims to stimulate the production of science, technology and innovation, as well as human resources graduate training in areas related to defense, development and other strategic issues of national interest. It is important to make it clear that within EBAPE there is a research effort that includes scholarships for master's, doctoral and post-doctoral degrees - as a result of Pró-Estratégia, adds Valentina.
