FGV discusses the effects of value ideology on shareholders

The professor of the School of Public and Business Administration (FGV/EBAPE), Joaquim Rubens, was one of the speakers at the Fórum Acadêmico: Visão Crítica sobre a Ideologia da Criação de Valor? (Academic Forum: Critical View on the Ideology of Value Creation), held at the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC).

 The professor of the School of Public and Business Administration (FGV/EBAPE), Joaquim Rubens, was one of the speakers at the Fórum Acadêmico: Visão Crítica sobre a Ideologia da Criação de Valor? (Academic Forum: Critical View on the Ideology of Value Creation), held at the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC), in São Paulo, with the goal of discussing in depth the consequences of the excessive focus on shareholder value to companies, suppliers, workers and society as a whole.At the event, he spoke on the theme The ideology of Maximizing Value to Shareholders and reinforced the advantages and disadvantages of guiding the company towards this objective, taking into account the need to consider the role of other stakeholders giving support to the business. The forum also featured the participation of the founder-professor and first director of São Paulo Law School (DIREITO SP), Ary Oswaldo Mattos Filho, and the founder of Direzione Consultoria Empresarial and professor of University of São Paulo (USP), Alexandre Di Miceli.In EBAPE, Joaquim Rubens teaches corporate governance and strategy, and coordinates the Center for Research on Strategy and Corporate Governance and Organizations.  He has also been board member of companies such as Belgo-Mineira, Caemi, Invepar, LAMSA and CLN and has been an employee of IBGC, teaching management courses and coordinating the annual congress books.  He currently assists various organizations and participates in the Cooperative Governance project, led by the Central Bank.The Fórum Acadêmico: Visão Crítica sobre a Ideologia da Criação de Valor took place on May 6.  Please click here and learn more about the meeting (in Portuguese).
