FGV EMAp accepting applications for 5th edition of international Tropical Probabilistic AI School

Between January 29 and February 2, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Applied Mathematics (FGV EMAp) will host the fifth edition of the Tropical Probabilistic AI School in FGV’s main building in Rio de Janeiro. A diverse and global group of experts and enthusiasts will present state-of-the-art developments in machine learning and artificial intelligence, from a probabilistic approach.

The Tropical Probabilistic AI School 2024 is an international event organized by the Nordic Probabilistic AI School team, affiliated with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, in partnership with FGV EMAp. The topics to be covered at the event include an introduction to probabilistic modeling, probabilistic programming, variational inference methods, deep generative models, deep learning and representation learning, and causal inference. All the meetings will be held in English, with conceptual classes in the morning and interactive classes and tutorials in the afternoon. Find out more about the courses here.

The aim of the initiative is to select a diverse group of 150 participants, including doctoral students, master’s or undergraduate students (advanced), experienced researchers (postdoctoral researchers, professors or industrial researchers), engineers, industry professionals and enthusiasts. The selection criteria include experience, affiliation to the institution, geographical location and gender. The selection process will be based on documents submitted and it will be carried out by a diverse committee of trusted experts. All candidates who apply for the course will be notified of their acceptance or rejection by January 26. To apply, please click here.
