FGV Energy addresses the scenario and perspectives of the electric power sector

On May 28, FGV Energy held the lecture ?Panorama do Setor Elétrico Brasileiro - cenário atual e perspectivas? (Outlook on the Brazilian Electric Power Sector - current scenario and perspectives), promoted by the Brazilian National Confederation of Trade (Confederação Nacional de Comércio - CNC) and the Economic Promotion Association (Associação Promotora de Economia - APEC) at the Trade Association of Rio de Janeiro (Associação Comercial do Rio de Janeiro). The Center for Studies was represented by the engineer Ruderico Pimentel, who approached the changes in the institutional model, the short and long term situations, issues and adjustments of the model in 2004 and the provisional measure MP 579/2012 ? regarding the concessions of electric power generation, transmission and distribution, the reduction of sectoral charges and tariffs, besides other provisions.According to Pimentel, the main concern is the need for future investments in the sector, so that they fulfill the development need in the mid and long run. ?It is important to highlight that the current situation was produced over time, and that it is necessary to analyze today's context so as to solve the existing problems?, he explains.FGV's vice-president, Sergio Franklin Quintella, praised the initiative to run the lecture. ?As I have been personally and professionally connected to the electric power sector as the president of Internacional de Engenharia, I can state that engineer Ruderico Pimentel made a clear and competent approach on the past and the perspectives for the future of the sector?, said Quintella, congratulating APEC and FGV Energy. The Minister Ernane Galvêas ? who is the president of APEC, Secretary-General of the Brazilian Committee at the International Chamber of Commerce and member of FGV's Executive Council ? also thanked the collaboration of FGV Energy towards solving electric power issues in the country.Click here and learn about FGV Energia (in Portuguese).
