FGV holds First National Congress on Tax Litigation

The Nucleus for Tax Law, part of the Professional Master’s Program at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo Law School, with the institutional support of the Brazilian Institute for Education, Development and Research (IDP), is holding the First National Congress on Tax Litigation. This public event will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on March 6 and 7, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The congress is being coordinated by professors Juliana Furtado and Paulo Cesar Conrado of the FGV Sao Paulo Law School and Professor Paulo Mendes of IDP. The idea is to bring together renowned professionals and experts in the legal field to discuss the main challenges and trends in contemporary Brazilian tax litigation.

The event was conceived with the aim of helping improve the Brazilian tax litigation system and debating solutions to enhance efficiency and rationality in this area.

The congress will allow for the exchange of experiences and knowledge between professionals located in all regions of Brazil, providing an environment conducive to the discussion of cases, the sharing of best practices and the formulation of proposals to improve tax litigation in Brazil.

The speakers will include some renowned professionals, such as Anelize Lenzi Ruas de Almeida, attorney general of the National Treasury; Fernando Zilveti, chair of the Tax Law Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association’s Sao Paulo branch; Lana Borges, deputy attorney general at the National Treasury Prosecution Office; Eduardo Perez Salusse, president of the Movement to Defend the Legal Profession; João Grognet, deputy attorney general at the National Treasury’s delinquent debt department; and Karem Jureidini Dias, chair of the Sao Paulo Lawyers Institute’s Tax Law Committee.
