FGV hosts health minister to debate sector’s transformations and challenges
They will discuss expectations in the context of the new administration’s reconstruction of public policies and appreciation of science.

Attentive to Brazil’s constantly changing health sector, FGV Knowledge is holding a seminar called Health: New Perspectives, with the aim of contributing to public debate about the sector’s strengths and challenges. This public event will take place on March 17, at 9 am, at the FGV Cultural Center. The speakers will include the health minister, Nísia Trindade, as well as other public officials, physicians, legal experts and specialists in the field. They will discuss expectations in the context of the new administration’s reconstruction of public policies and appreciation of science.
Brazil’s health sector has undergone some major transitions in recent years, involving the implementation of new technologies, changes in legislation and growing public demand for high-quality services. Faced with this situation, the meeting will look at themes based on the pillars of universality, comprehensiveness and equity, while also reflecting on rampant litigation in the health sector and changes brought in by Law 14,307 of 2022.
Health: New Perspectives seeks to expand dialogue on social responsibility and strengthen science’s contribution to decision making regarding the public and private health systems. There will be panel discussions on these subjects: Sustainable Health Care; Governance; The Public Health System and Optimization of Public Health; Efficiency and Regulation of the Private Health Insurance System; and Legal Certainty.
The seminar’s participants will include the president of FGV, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal; the health minister, Nísia Trindade; the presidential secretary for federative affairs, André Ceciliano; the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes; Superior Court of Appeals justices Antonio Saldanha Palheiro and Marco Aurélio Bellizze; Professor Ludhmila Hajjar of the University of Sao Paulo, who is also the director of cardiology and oncology at the university’s Heart Institute; the founder of hospital group Rede D’Or São Luiz, Jorge Moll Filho; and the president of the National Health Insurance Regulatory Agency, Paulo Rebello.
