FGV IBRE is first research institute in Brazil to renew ISO 9001:2015 certification
On September 13, 2023, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV IBRE) renewed its ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management Systems certification in the area of cost engineering. It was the first research institute in Brazil to obtain ISO 9001:2015 certification, due to the excellence of its work in supplying benchmark cost parameters and sophisticated studies to guide the federal government’s infrastructure investments.
This certification gives the federal government’s main transportation infrastructure cost system, called the Infrastructure Work Benchmark Cost System (SICRO), a further guarantee of quality and care in all its processes and procedures for reviewing and maintaining cost breakdowns.
According to Túlio Barbosa, FGV IBRE’s infrastructure and global markets superintendent, quality management certification offers several advantages, by promoting a quality-oriented approach to institutional culture, focused on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, as well as enabling efficient data collection and analysis for evidence-based decision making. Another important aspect is that as it is an internationally recognized standard, this certification can boost competitiveness and access to global markets, as well as reinforcing aspects related to sustainability, which is now a worldwide concern.
