FGV Library System joins international digital repository network

FGV Library System is the newest partner of the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) – an international network that gathers digital repositories from educational institutions in Europe, U.S. and China. The institution promotes access to collections and enhances the quality of search metadata.

The addition of FGV’s digital repository to COAR grants even greater visibility to the academic production of the Schools and Research Centers, since it is now shared in a community featuring more than 100 members and partners around the world, representing libraries, universities and research centers known for their extensive collections.

The partnership was formalized by the director of FGV’s Library System, professor Marieta de Moraes Ferreira, and researcher Ângela Ruediger, who participated in the COAR Meeting held at Università Ca´ Foscari in Venice, Italy. The event gathered 80 international representatives to discuss the increasingly widespread concepts of open access and open science.

The event discussed the growing relevance of digital repositories within this process, serving as the bedrock of a globally-distributed infrastructure. The purpose of the meeting held by COAR was to align the entire network around these common goals.
