FGV participates in conference with Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministers

Professors at FGV's São Paulo Law School (DIREITO GV), Salem Nasser and Michelle Ratton Sanchez Badin, participated in the National Conference 2003-2013: a new foreign policy, at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC). The event, sponsored by the Reflection Group on International Relations (GR-RI), began last Monday, the 15th, and goes until today, July 18. The objective is to analyze the impact of international relations policy formulation over the past 10 years and the prospects for the future. On the 16th, Salem joined the debate Brazilian Foreign Policy and the Middle East, beside the head of the Middle East division of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Carlos Oliveira, and the secretary general of the Arab Palestinian Federation of Brazil (FEPAL), Emir Mourad. On the same day, Michelle coordinated the table Brazilian Foreign Policy, international trade, investments and asymmetries, which included the presence of the professor and coordinator of UFAB's International Relations Course, Giorgio Romano; IPEA's technician in planning and research, Marcos Antonio Macedo Cintra; and the vice-president of the Central of Workers of Brazil (CTB), Nivaldo Santana. The conference was also attended by the minister of Foreign Relations, Antonio Patriota; the Defense minister, Celso Amorim; the chief advisor of the president's Special Advisory Board, Marco Aurélio Garcia; the minister of the Strategic Affairs Secretariat (2009/2010) and Itamaraty's secretary-general (2003/2009) for Lula's government, Samuel Pinheiro Guimarães; and the full professor of the Economics Institute of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Luiz Gonzaga Belluzzo. Today the future of Brazilian Foreign Policy, its challenges and perspectives is on the agenda. The ex-president of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has been invited to be the mediator of the lecture Brazil in the World: changes and transformations.
