FGV presents results of Waterproof Data Project at event
The aim is to share all the work and knowledge done during this three-year project.
On March 30, at 9 am, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Center for Public Administration and Government Studies will hold an in-person and online event to present the results of the Waterproof Data Project. The aim is to share all the work and knowledge done during this three-year project.
The Waterproof Data Project took place through a partnership between FGV, the universities of Warwick and Glasgow in the United Kingdom, the University of Heidelberg in Germany and Brazil’s National Center for Natural Disaster Monitoring and Alerts (Cemaden). It was coordinated by the Belmont Forum, an international consortium whose members include the Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). The idea is to present the tools used in the project to two groups in particular: civil defense organizations and government school teachers and managers.
There will be a debate featuring Professor João Porto de Albuquerque of the University of Glasgow; Professor Maria Alexandra Cunha of FGV, who was one of the Waterproof Data Project’s researchers; and two other researchers on the project, Livia Degrossi and Mário Henrique da Mata Martins.
As well as this debate, there will be a workshop to foster dialogue between different stakeholders involved in sustainable flood risk governance (politicians, managers, technicians, experts and other citizens), engaging these stakeholders in sustainable flood risk governance to improve urban resilience.
