FGV has just released the book Quem tem medo de falar de drogas?(Who's afraid of talking about drugs?), a work organized by Gilberte Acselrad, based on 156 questions from students of primary and secondary education in public and private schools in the state of Rio de Janeiro, between 14 and 17 years old. Some of these questions, handled between 1990 and 2012, are the basis of the texts written by five scholars from various areas, which address the various meanings of 'drugs', with its origins, effects, bans, policies and opinions. The book considers original questions made by teenagers and potential consumers, and people curious about the subject, instead of debating ideologies of health, criminal and political experts. Thus, the work proposes society a new debate with children and teenagers, paving the path for a new view of the drug policy. The publication also highlights that the development of a more effective and humane drug policy must first consider a change in the way we debate the issue. To learn more about the book, in Portuguese, please visit FGV Press' website.
