Within a week of the World Cup in Brazil, the Minister of Sports, Aldo Rebelo, and Pelé will support the launch of the Brazilian version of the Better Life Index - a joint initiative of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD ) and FGV Projetos. The index is an interactive tool available on the Internet (http://www.oecdbetterlifeindex.org), which allows ranking and comparing the main requirements to the well-being of people around the globe. On the occasion, the director of FGV Projetos, Cesar Cunha Campos, and OECD's director of Public Affairs and Communication, Anthony Gooch, will present the initiative and address the main figures raised by the latest research, mainly those related to Brazil. Event attendees - including Pelé and Rebelo - will create their own interactive indicators and debate on the quality of life in the country. In order to make the audience acquainted with the initiative in practice, interactive totems will allow the creation of individual versions of the indicators which, for now, are only available in English, French, Spanish, German and Russian. The launch is open to the public and takes place next Monday, June 9, at 10 am, in the auditorium of São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV/EAESP).It is located at rua Itapeva, 432, São Paulo. Please click below to learn more and register.http://fgvprojetos.fgv.br/eventos/lancamento-indice-para-uma-vida-melhor...Is there more to life than soccer? This week, the OECD launched a publicity campaign for the new version of the tool in all its social networks, including Facebook  and Twitter. The slogan Are there more things in life than soccer? and the hashtag #more2life refers to the importance given by society to the sport, drawing attention to other important welfare factors. The initiative, created in 2011, encourages discussion about the quality of life around the world and seeks to make the population more informed and committed to the development process of public policies. With data from 34 OECD member countries and key partners such as Brazil and Russia, the index compares levels of well-being by using 11 areas. They are: housing, income, labor, community, education, environment, civic engagement, health, life satisfaction, safety and work and personal life balance.By allowing each person to rank the areas according to what he/she considers most important, the Better Life Index provides a powerful tool that can compare the concerns of citizens around the world and also to inform policy makers on which matters they should focus..
