FGV Projetos discusses economic scenario at the Harvard Club in New York

Next week, Brazil will be the theme of two events that have already joined New York's economic calendar. Along with the Brazil-American Chamber of Commerce (Brazilcham), FGV Projetos will hold, on May 14, the III World Economy and Brazil, with the presence of the chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Olivier Blanchard, and the senior consultant on BRICS at the World Bank, Otaviano Canuto. The next day, FGV will join the Person of the Year Awards Gala Dinner, an event promoted by Brazilcham since 1970, which this year pays homage to the executive Rubens Ometto Silveira Mello.Both meetings are intended to promote the exchange of ideas aimed at the emerging market economy, encourage cooperation in converging industries in the United States and Brazil, to discuss the global economic situation and its implications, and make visible the work of technical advice developed by FGV Projetos. Monetary policy, the global crisis and the role of emerging countries in the global economy will be among the topics discussed.The events will bring together entrepreneurs, students and experts from leading American universities, and governments interested in the course of the Brazilian economy.III World Economy and BrazilThe director of FGV Projetos, Cesar Cunha Campos, will chair the event and will make a presentation about the current political and economic Brazilian scenario and the challenges for 2015-2018. Blanchard will present an overview of the situation of the world economy and Canuto will analyze the BRICS under the perspective of changes in this context. The debate will be moderated by Professor Carlos Langoni, director of FGV's Center for World Economics and former president of the Central Bank.Last year, the event hosted speakers such as the President of the Federal Reserve of the United States during the administrations of Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan, Paul Volcker, and the President of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Luciano Coutinho - who was also honored with the 2013 Person of the Year award.
