FGV ranks first in the ANPEC exam for the second consecutive year
Student Pedro Feijó de Moraes achieved the highest grade on the exam, considered one of the most difficult and competitive in the country, and that serves as a reference for the selection of the main Master’s and PhD programs in Economics.
FGV’s Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (EPGE) ranked first in the National Association of Graduate Courses in Economics (ANPEC) exam for the second year in a row. Student Pedro Feijó de Moraes achieved the highest grade on the exam, considered one of the most difficult and competitive in the country, and that serves as a reference for the selection of the main Master’s and PhD programs in Economics.
“EPGE’s professors are references and are familiar with what happens in academia and in the world. The undergraduate course has a very strong academic bias, without taking away from the practical part, and fulfills all the requirements for the ANPEC exam. FGV has been a place of reference for me, a very positive environment with constant exchange not only with the professors, but also with colleagues and with the academic support staff”, said Moraes, who completes the undergraduate program later this year.
He says that the preparation for the ANPEC exam intensified as of February, when he left an internship to devote himself to study for it. He studied all the required content until September and, in the final month, retook all the ANPEC exams from the last 10 years, timing himself and checking his grades.
In addition to Moraes, three other EPGE students are listed among the top 10 for the 2018 ANPEC exam. Gustavo Ferrer Brandão was the runner up, Otávio Moura Rubião ranked fourth and Pedro Levy Schott Pacheco ranked eighth. This year’s result repeated the strong performance in 2017. At the time, three students from the School were among the top 10, with current EPGE Master's Candidate Gabriel Dias ranking first.
Established in 1973, ANPEC brings together Brazilian institutions that carry out research and training activities at a graduate level in the field of Economics. Every year, the association organizes the National Selection Exam for candidates of Master’s in Economics offered by its members or associated centers. ANPEC exam grades are also used in the selection process of some PhD courses.
