FGV reaches 100,000 YouTube subscribers

Fundação Getulio Vargas now has 100,000 YouTube subscribers. This milestone reflects FGV’s commitment to the dissemination of high-quality content in a free and open way, contributing to debate about Brazil’s socioeconomic development.

The knowledge produced by FGV has become even more democratic and accessible on YouTube. Since 2008, the channel has stood out for its innovative and pioneering exploration of various topics of interest to FGV students, researchers and society as a whole. In this period, the channel has accumulated more than 5,000 videos and 40 million views.

One of the ways in which FGV spreads knowledge is through programs and series, which have brought together hundreds of professors and researchers to discuss a wide range of subjects of public interest.

Not even the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the expansion of audiovisual content production and the number of subscribers. The platform was essential for FGV’s rapid migration from face-to-face events to online format and it helped its webinars reach large audiences throughout 2020.

In addition, to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about the novel coronavirus, three new web series were created, which looked at the pandemic’s impacts from different angles. “COVID-19’s Impacts” and, more recently, “Challenges of the New Normal” present analyzes by experts about the pandemic and its consequences for society. In the “FGV At Home” program, FGV students, professors and employees talk about changes in their routines due to the need for social distancing.

“The milestone of 100,000 YouTube subscribers was achieved organically and this demonstrates the relevance and quality of the content produced by FGV,” says FGV’s director of communication and marketing, Marcos Facó.
