FGV seminar debates the future of productive development in Brazil

Industry and production development in Brazil: what should the government's strategy be for the 2015-2018 period? This is the topic of a seminar organized in partnership between the São Paulo School of Economics (FGV/EESP) and the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE) - which will gather on May 26 and 27 economists of FGV and from all over Brazil.The event is divided into seven sessions that will address subjects such as industry and economic development, macroeconomic policy and industrial development, foreign trade, innovation and competitiveness, review of industrial policy instruments, and productive development beyond the industry. The event will be attended by EESP's director, Yoshiaki Nakano; EESP's professor and IBRE researcher, Nelson Barbosa; EESP professors, Luiz Carlos Bresser-Pereira, Vera Thorstensen, Laura Carvalho, Nelson Marconi and Angelo Costa Gurgel, besides IBRE specialists, Regis Bonelli, Mauricio Canedo Pinheiro, Samuel Pessôa and Lia Valls.Marcelo Miterhof, Lucas Teixeira, João Carlos Ferraz, Francisco Eduardo Pires de Souza and Jorge Arbache, of BNDES; João de Negri, of Ipea and FINEP; Mansueto Almeida, of Ipea; José Ricardo Roriz Coelho, of FIESP, among other representatives of institutions such as Unicamp, UFABC, IEDI and UFRJ will also be present.The seminar is open to the public and will take place from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm on both days at EESP's auditorium.
