FGV seminar evaluates labor market situation in Brazil

20 September 2013

Employment generation, unemployment rate, labor formalization and the Brazilian economic performance. These are some of the issues that will be discussed at the seminar Outlook on the Labor Market in Brazil, promoted by FGV's Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE).

The seminar will also focus on analyzing possible downturn signs in this market - such as the decrease of net job generation registered by the General Registry of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) and the slight increase in the unemployment rate compared to the same month last year - which may reflect recurrent or demographic factors or even indicate a more lasting change.

The meeting will be attended by FGV researchers and professors from the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea), the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and Insper.

The Outlook on the Labor Market in Brazil is open to the public and will take place on October 2, Wednesday, starting at 2 pm, at FGV's main office, in Rio de Janeiro.
