FGV students won the 2013 Top China Program

The work on the use of pesticides in Brazil and China carried out by undergraduate students of Fundação Getulio Vargas was the winner of the 2013 Top China Program in the city of Shanghai, in the Asian country. The team made up of FGV students Andréa Romualdo Lavourinha (Rio de Janeiro Law School -DIREITO RIO), Danilo Fronha Carneiro (São Paulo School of Business Administration - EAESP), João Lucas Thereze Ferreira (FGV/EPGE - - Graduate School of Economics) and Moraes Dutenkefer (São Paulo School of Economics- EESP), next to the students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Yang Yujia, Ni Ruoning and Sun Lilin, stayed ahead of Brazilian institutions, such as ITA, USP and UFF and Mackenzie. On one hand, pesticides increase productivity and help to solve problems of food security. On the other, they can cause environmental problems such as contamination of soil and water, in addition to causing health damages. The study analyzed the evolution of the use of pesticides in Brazil and China, and discussed future possibilities, says the professor of Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE), Rafael Goldszmidt, who is the Coordinator of the Academic Master's in School Administration and followed the group. The Top China Program - an initiative launched in 2009 by Santander Universities - took FGV's group to universities of Beijing and Sanghai Jiao Tong for a month of exchange, aiming to strengthen ties among these Chinese and Brazilian teaching entities. Professor Goldszmidt and the students were chosen in a selection process that involved FGV schools, under the coordination of professor Eduardo Marques, of GERINT/DINT, in May this year. The cooperation between FGV and Santander Universities has allowed exchange program actions among professors and students in Europe, Latin America and China, where universities such as the Tsinghua were also included.
