FGV/EBAPE received international EQUIS accreditation from EFMD
The Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV/EBAPE) received an international accreditation from the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS-EFMD), one of the most important certifications in the academic world. In Brazil, only three institutions have this kind of seal besides EBAPE - one of them is São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV/EAESP).
To receive this kind of recognition, the School underwent a series of tests related to infrastructure, quality of faculty and teaching methodologies, conducted by a committee appointed by the agency at the end of 2013. EQUIS' committee not only evaluated the undergraduate programs, but all activities and subunits of FGV that give support to the School, including research, e-learning units, the executive education offer and the community's awareness.
EQUIS' scope covers all programs offered, from primary school to PhD level. Institutions must be primarily active in education management and also show commitment to the overall quality in all dimensions of their activities. The plan is to make students capable of identifying, through this accreditation, the institutions of other countries that offer high quality education in international management.
For FGV/EBAPE's director, Professor Flavio Vasconcelos, this certification confirms the School's commitment to internationalization coupled with academic excellence. This accreditation is an important international recognition of the quality of the School, which is granted only to institutions that meet the highest international quality standards in teaching and research, he said.
The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS-EFMD) applies to universities and colleges that show a high degree of internationalization. The credential takes into account well-structured programs, the balance between academic quality and the market, and especially, the commitment to the international corporate world. Its main objective, linked to the mission of EFMD, is to raise the standard of education management worldwide.
