Being the first time in an international competition in this way, and getting a medal, made me very happy, said Gustavo, who was also the representative of FGV.Held on Thursday, July 31, and Friday, August 1, the tests - in English - included algebra, real and complex analysis, geometry and combinatorics problems. The students' work was evaluated by the leaders of the delegations and presented to the coordination jury, formed by experts in the field, who provided the final scores of each problem using criteria established by the international jury. The cuts for the distribution of the medals were defined by the organization of IMC, without interference of the leaders. The event - organized by University College London in partnership with the American University in Bulgaria - is the largest competition for college students and welcomes the most outstanding undergraduate students in mathematics and related sciences. In all, 324 students from 73 universities participated in the competition. To participate in the IMC, competitors must be undergraduate students from the first until the fourth year and hold no previous college degree. Students can be of any academic background, although most come from degrees such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering and Physics.*In the photo, the Brazilian delegation that participated in the competition.
