FGV's Law Schools in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo have resumed today its partnerships in the coverage of the second phase of Criminal Action 470's trial - better known as Mensalão.  In this phase, the 11 ministers will judge the appeals submitted by all 25 defendants sentenced in the trial, considered the longest in the history of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). FGV's São Paulo Law School (DIREITO GV) has renewed with the group Estado the partnership started last year for real time coverage and on different platforms (radio, TV, internet and printed copies), which will include analyses and explanations from specialists at the School about the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court on the case. For this reason, São Paulo Law School recreated the situation room, which brings together professors and researchers who will explain technical issues regarding the trial to the journalists.  The group will be led by the professor and researcher at the Constitution and Justice Center, Rubens Glezer, and supervised by the Director of the School, Oscar Vilhena Vieira. FGV's Rio de Janeiro Law School (DIREITO RIO), on the other hand, retakes the partnerships with the newspaper O Globo, the portal G1 and Folha de São Paulo.  Through these vehicles, it will be possible to follow all steps of the trial and the impact of the ministers' decisions, with the aid of the team of 14 professors of the School, led by Professor Joaquim Falcão and coordinated by the researcher Adriana Lacombe. The printed version of Globo will address the issues that have emerged in more detail, presenting articles by researchers at Rio de Janeiro Law School, and BBC Brazil has just published a short guide with the help of the School's graduate coordinator, Thiago Bottino. The Criminal Action 470 was established in 2007 by the Supreme Federal Court - which received the information against the defendants for the scheme of buying votes from congressmen unleashed during the first mandate of Luís Inácio Lula da Silva's government. The trial began last year.
