Fundação Getulio Vargas discusses public and private healthcare funding in Brazil
Public-private healthcare financing in Brazil. Where are we? Where are we heading to? These are the issues that the Center for Studies in Healthcare Planning and Management (GV Saúde) of FGV's São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV/EAESP) will discuss this Monday (November 11th), at a meeting with managers of the sector in public and private institutions and the academic community.
The growing need for health financial resources is becoming increasingly more current, mainly with regard to the relationship between public and private sectors, says the coordinator of GVHealth, Ana Maria Malik. For this reason we have tried to present two perspectives, two types of experience, she explained. These visions will be represented by the consultant and representative of the Industry Federation of the state of São Paulo (Fiesp) at the Council of Science, Technology and Innovation in Health of the Health Office of the State of São Paulo (Comsaúde), Gabriel Tannus, and by the pediatrician and sanitarian, Gilson Carvalho, PhD in Public Health by USP.
The experts will discuss the need for funding to improve the sector in Brazil and the complexity generated by the heterogeneity of the Brazilian regions, taking into account the investment observed in countries with structured healthcare systems and the fragmentation of public health management in the country - a factor that directly interferes in the search of a health care system guided by equality.
The seminar Public-private healthcare financing in Brazil. Where are we? Where are we heading to? is part of a series of debates promoted by GVSaúde (GVHealth) with the goal of presenting scenarios, discussing trends and experiences that may improve management, optimization of the use of resources and in a higher quality of healthcare assistance in the country. The coordination is in the hands of EAESP's doctors, professors and researchers Ana Maria Malik and Álvaro Escrivão Jr.
