Fundação Getulio Vargas discusses the situation of countries in the Atlantic at event in Morocco

On October 24th-27th, the director of FGV's School of Social Sciences (FGV/CPDOC), Celso Castro, the coordinator of FGV's Center for International Relations (based at CPDOC), Elena Lazarou, and CPDOC's professor and researcher at the Center for International Relations, Alexandre Morelli, participated in the 2013 Atlantic Dialogues - an event sponsored by the think tank German Marshall Fund (GMF) that took place in the city of Rabat, in Morocco.Professor Elena Lazarou attended the session Atlantic Springs? Protests, Turmoil, and Political Change?, with the former Mexican Foreign Relations Minister, Jorge Castañeda, and GMF's specialist, Ian Lesser. Elena Lazarou, Celso Castro and Alexandre Morelli also attended a series of meetings as FGV's representatives.Designed after the already established GMF's Brussels Forum, the Atlantic Dialogs brought together around 300 leaders from public and private sectors of Atlantic and Asian countries for three days of open and informal discussions on various issues, such as inter-regional security, economics, migration and energy.The think tank GMF, which held the meeting, was founded in the United States with resources donated by West Germany as compensation to the Marshall Plan - European Recovery Program conducted by the North-American country for the reconstruction of the allied countries of Europe in the years following the Second World War.The full program of the Atlantic Dialogs is available on the page of the Center for international Relations.  Please click here to visit the website.
