German consul general participates in debate on challenges of democracy in age of digitalization

On October 28, at 2 pm, the FGV´s EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) will host a talk by the German consul general in Rio de Janeiro, Klaus Zillikens. The guest will talk about “The challenges of democracy in the age of digitalization.” The event will take place at the FGV Cultural Center, at Praia de Botafogo, 186, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.

Zillikens will discuss how social media and the internet are changing communication between citizens and the state. The other participants in the discussion will be the director of the Corcovado German School, Professor Paulo Carvalho, and the dean of FGV EPGE, Professor Rubens Penha Cysne.

Kaus Zillikens is a qualified sociologist and career diplomat with the Germany Federal Foreign Office, which he joined in 1987. Over the course of his career, he has led the Office’s Nordic and Baltic Countries Bilateral Relations Division and its Foreign Trade Division. From 2009 to 2013, he was the German consul general in Donetsk, Ukraine. He has also held posts in Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Austria and Mozambique.
