Global Economic Simposyum is celebrated at gala dinner

On October 16, speakers and organizers of GES celebrated the seminar with a gala dinner at the Copacabana Palace. President Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal opened the meeting welcoming everyone. Quoting an excerpt from No man is an island, by the British, John Donne, he reflected on the importance of discussing global problems in order to solve them, in a joint effort.In response, Bertelsmann Stiftung's president, Aart de Geus, thanked FGV and Kiel Institute for bringing GES to Brazil, and, closing the ceremony, the South African Sean Clearly, President of Strategic Concepts, spoke about the urgency of building a sustainable economy for the future of the planet.Also present were FGV's Vice President Sergio F. Quintella, the directors Cesar Cunha Campos (FGV Projetos), Flávio Vasconcelos (EBAPE), Celso Castro (CPDOC), Rubens Cysne (EPGE), besides the consuls Harald Klein (Germany) and Bernard Quintin (Belgium), the prince and founder of King Faisal Foundation AlFaisal Turki Alsaud, among other speakers, experts and representatives of institutions supportive of the event.
