Human capital and poverty in Brazil: Seminar addresses challenges for the future

The Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results for Brazil and Lusophone Africa (FGV EESP CLEAR) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) and the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI), supported by the World Bank and FGV EESP’s professional master’s program and academic master’s and doctoral programs, are holding a seminar called “Future Challenges: Human Capital and Poverty in Brazil.”

The event will take place on December 2, at 9 am, in hybrid format: in-person in the Noble Room at Rua Itapeva 432, 4th floor, Bela Vista, Sao Paulo; and online on FGV’s official YouTube channel. The objective is to present recent World Bank reports and discuss the current situation and future challenges in the areas of human capital and poverty in Brazil.

The World Bank’s Ildo Jose Lautharte Junior will give a talk about “Human Capital,” moderated by Claudia Costin, the director of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Education Policies (CEIPE) at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE). After a coffee break, another World Bank executive, Gabriel Lara Ibarra, will talk about “Poverty,” moderated by Ricardo Paes de Barros of Insper, a higher education institute in Sao Paulo.
