International event discusses globalization, territories and integration
The Director of FGV’s International Affairs Division (FGV DINT), professor Bianor Cavalcanti, presided over the annual meeting of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) and the Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA), both belonging to the International Institute of Administrative Science (IIAS). The event, held in cooperation with Autoridad Nacional del Servicio Civil (SERVIR) and Universidad Católica Sedes Sapientiae (UCSS) of Peru, discussed the theme “Globalization, Territories and Integration” between July 23 and 26, in Lima, Peru.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Dean of University of Vale de Cali, Colombia, and President of LAGPA, professor Edgar Varela Barrios; the General Director of IIAS, Sofiane Sahraoui; the Chancellor of UCSS, Lino Panizza; the representative of UCSS in the Board of Directors of IASIA, Luis Solari de la Fuente; the Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of SERVIR of Peru, Juan Carlos Cortés Carcelén; and the Chancellor of Peru, Oscar Maurtua de Romaña.
Professor Cavalcanti also participated in various activities, chairing the session of Associations and Networks of Public Administration and the roundtable of three sessions of the regional group, as former President of LAGPA/IIAS; and presented the paper “Development through good governance: evidence from Latin America”, co-authored with Guilherme Marques, an academic analyst from FGV DINT.
Gathering more than 230 scholars, students and professionals of public administration from 45 countries, the event featured the active participation of FGV professors such as Marlos Lima, Alketa Peci, Fernando Tenório, and Paulo de Mendonça Motta, the latter as general rapporteur for the conference.
During the closing ceremony, the Deputy Dean of ISCTE-IUL (University Institute of Lisbon), Maria das Dores Guerreiro, PhD, announced that the city of Lisbon will host the 2019 IASIA Conference.
