International module promotes integration between FGV EBAPE master’s students and Rutgers Business School
Between January 26 and 31, the FGV´s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE) and Rutgers Business School held the international module for FGV EBAPE’s professional master’s programs at the American school’s campus in Newark, New Jersey. In all, 35 FGV EBAPE students who are doing professional master’s degrees in Public Administration (MAP) and Business Management (MEX) took part in the module. They were able to learn more about how the public and private sectors work in the United States, including the effects of internal and external contexts.
Coordinated by the Master’s in Business Management team, represented by Professor Helio Arthur Irigaray and Raquel Freitas, the group attended talks about subjects such as human resources management, urban economic development and the United States’ position in the global economy. The students also participated in technical visits, including to the Port of Newark and the New York Federal Reserve.
“The visit to the Federal Reserve was relevant and useful, as it gave us a good view of what the American central bank system is like and how the United States’ financial policy is managed,” said Julio Cesar Faria, who is doing the MAP course, which is being held in partnership with the National Treasury Prosecution Office.
As well as academically enriching, the module is also an opportunity for students to share knowledge with peers in different programs, of all kinds of backgrounds, observed Ana Paschoal Lima, a student who is taking the 2019 Regular MEX course.
“The best parts of this visit were the informal social moments. We could network and find out what other master’s students are focusing their studies on. It was also an opportunity to interact more closely with classmates and FGV representatives. I believe that this week greatly enriched the contacts and academic exchange opportunities of the people who were there,” she said.
