José Maria Neves, FGV EAESP public administration alumnus, elected president of Cape Verde
José Maria Neves, who has a degree in public administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP), was elected president of the Republic of Cape Verde last weekend, with 51.7% of the votes. He will govern the country for the next five years.
Neves graduated in public administration from FGV EAESP in the 1980s, before embarking upon his political career as a member and vice president of the National Assembly of Cape Verde from 1996 to 2000. He was the president of the Municipal Council of Santa Catarina on the island of Santiago from 2000 to 2001, and prime minister from 2001 to 2016.
FGV EAESP’s Public Administration Course covers all activities aimed at promoting the public interest. The work of public administrators encompasses activities in government, at NGOs, at international organizations and in business sectors focused on improving citizens’ quality of life, expanding democracy and enhancing social solidarity.
The course aims to give students a broad vision of the humanities and the ability to coordinate, negotiate and make decisions, as well as solid training in dealing with international issues.
