Legal Framework for Artificial Intelligence is subject of Center for Judicial Innovation seminar
The Center for Judicial Innovation, Administration and Research (CIAPJ), part of FGV Knowledge, is holding a seminar called “The Legal Framework for Artificial Intelligence” on March 20, 2023, at the FGV Cultural Center. This public event will take place from 8:30 am to 1 pm.
In light of Bill 21 of 2020, panel discussions will be held on the following topics, among others: the Rights of People Affected by Artificial Intelligence Systems; Categorization of Risks and Regulatory Repercussions; and the Civil and Administrative Responsibility of AI Agents.
The meeting will bring together academics, public officials and specialists in order to debate the practical and theoretical effects of the regulations in question. The speakers will include Justice Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva of the Superior Court of Appeals; Judge Elton Leme of the Rio de Janeiro State Court of Appeals; Secretary Estela Aranha of the Justice and Public Security Ministry; and Judge Caroline Tauk of the Regional Federal Court of the Second Region. (Elton Leme is the deputy coordinator of CIAPJ, while Caroline Tauk is its academic coordinator.)
Other speakers will include the director of the Center for Law, Internet and Society at the Brazilian Institute for Education, Development and Research (IDP), Laura Schertel Mendes; Rio de Janeiro state prosecutor Anderson Schreiber; founding partner of law firm Ana Frazão Advogados, Ana Frazão; and the director of the National Data Protection Agency, Miriam Wimmer.
The event is CIAPJ’s latest initiative in line with its commitment to help improve the justice system through research, studies, publications, discussion forums and seminars, among other academic activities.
