Meeting with members of Chinese State Council discusses new cooperation initiatives

On December 5, the FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School welcomed a delegation from the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council (COSC) of the People’s Republic of China. During the meeting, the school presented the initiatives carried out by its Brazil-China Study Center since 2017 and its collaboration with universities and legal organizations in China. It also presented the “Belt and Road & Brazil (BR&Br)” project, which was launched earlier this year, and it discussed new cooperation initiatives planned for 2020.

The State Council is the Chinese executive branch. It is led by Prime Minister Li Keqiang. The Chinese delegation was made up of Zhao Bing, the vice chairman of COSC; counsellors Xu Yifan and Li Yuguang; the deputy general director of COSC’s International Cooperation Department, Wang Jing; and the director of COSC’s General Secretariat, Ge Zongxin.

The guests were received by professors Antonio Maristrello Porto (the vice dean of the FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School), Evandro Menezes de Carvalho (the coordinator of the school’s Brazil-China Study Center), Daniel Vargas and Luca Belli.
