National financial system and regulatory coordination are themes of new lawbook

Ana Carolina Mello, who has a master’s in regulatory law from Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School and won the 2023 Diogo de Figueiredo Moreira Neto Prize for Best Master’s Thesis, has launched a book titled “Sistema Financeiro Nacional e Coordenação Regulatória” (“The National Financial System and Regulatory Coordination”), published by Editora Almedina in partnership with the school.

The book highlights the formal regulatory coordination mechanisms used by entities in Brazil’s national financial system. Divided into three sections, it presents some innovative research fundings on the functioning of these mechanisms and their legal implications.

As well as analyzing dysfunctionalities arising from the present model, which involves delegating powers to different entities in the national financial system, the book stresses the importance of improving these mechanisms to ensure more efficient functioning of the system’s supervisory bodies.

The publication represents a significant advance in the study of regulatory law and will contribute to the debate on regulatory coordination in the context of Brazil’s national financial system.
