National Treasury Prosecution Office employees begin new public administration master’s course

On November 25, the FGV Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV EBAPE) held the first class of the Professional Master’s in Public Administration (MAP) course for employees of the National Treasury Prosecution Office (PGFN) in Brasília. As well as PGFN employees, the course is also being taken by students from the Federal Revenue Service and National Treasury Secretariat.

“By choosing to do this master’s at FGV, you will move up a level and you will certainly take a different path compared to other professionals. This is a very happy development, which will result in qualifications and no doubt also academic papers that will bear fruit in future for PGFN,” said José Levi, the prosecutor general of the National Treasury, when welcoming the second group of PGFN employees to begin the course in 2019.

The event was an opportunity for the new students to find out more details about the course’s academic structure, its research areas and FGV’s infrastructure. The program’s coordinators also explained to the students how the school’s sectors and FGV’s units function, including the numerous resources available, and they received basic guidance on how to access them.

“We have undergraduate law degrees and our management work is very intuitive. I believe this master’s will help me manage and become efficient at making decisions. I have very high hopes,” said PGFN employee Patrícia Mello de Brito.

The inaugural class featured MAP’s academic coordinator, Professor Francisco Gaetani; MAP’s assistant coordinator and head of FGV EBAPE’s Academic Education and Research Center (CFAP), Professor Roberto da Costa Pimenta; the coordinator of FGV EBAPE’s Master’s in Business Management (MEX) and the professor responsible for the Research Methodology subject, Joaquim Rubens Fontes Filho; the prosecutor general of the National Treasury, José Levi Mello do Amaral Júnior; and the manager of the Research Methodology subject, Kheitt Lamas, who has a master’s in business management from FGV EBAPE. PGFN’s corporate management director and MAP student Iêda Cagni also took part in the ceremony. She expressed enthusiasm about the start of this new course.

“It’s exciting to see PGFN’s second FGV master’s course begin, whether because of the involvement of colleagues in the first group, the brilliance and determination of colleagues who are starting, or the obstacles surmounted in such a difficult year, full of unprecedented events and restrictions in the public sector. It’s also a privilege to have an organization that is concerned about our team, which is seeking to train its members at such a renowned institution. Everyone will benefit from all this. PGFN has become increasing efficient, producing better results using less resources. It’s an example that ought to be replicated,” Cagni said.
