New book presents economic analysis of regulatory law
Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School, in partnership with publishing house Juruá, has launched a book titled Regulação, Direito e Economia (“Regulation, Law and Economics”). The book brings together articles written in the first half of 2023 by students on the school’s Master’s in Regulatory Law Program, all related to economic analysis of law. The articles were selected by the book’s organizers, professors Antonio Maristrello Porto and Paulo Fernando de Mello Franco.
Divided into three parts, the book addresses subjects such as the regulatory role of the state, the interaction between corporate law and behavioral economics, and analysis of various specific aspects of economic analysis of law. The aim is to innovate in the area of regulation and law, adding economic elements to a traditionally legal debate.
The purpose of the book isn’t to exhaustively deal with all the topics or answer all possible questions about economic analysis of law and regulation, but rather to offer readers new perspectives on how economic analysis of law can be applied to regulatory law. The articles are intended to provide guidance, raise new questions and encourage debate on the intersection between law and economics.
