New monetary developments, from PIX to digital currencies, are subject of webinar
Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) will hold a free webinar on May 24, at 6 pm, about new monetary developments such as PIX and digital currencies.
During the event, João Marco Braga da Cunha, a professor of cryptofinance on the FGV EESP’s Professional Master’s in Economics, will talk to João Manoel Pinho de Mello, the Brazilian Central Bank’s director of financial and settlement system organization, and Gabriela Bertol, the director of Oliver Wyman, about the growth of PIX and its new functionalities, including in-store cash withdrawals and contactless payments. As it has become an effective alternative to cash, it is worth asking how this initiative by the Central Bank is related to topics previously restricted to the world of cryptofinance, such as decentralization and digital currencies.
