Online event focuses on creation of boards for family businesses

FGV Senior Management is holding a webinar called “Is it time for your company to have a board?” The debaters will be three professors, Amedeo Papa, Cidinha Fonseca and Marcelo Binder, all of whom teach on FGV Senior Management’s Training Program for Board Members of Family-Controlled Companies. The moderator will be the course’s academic coordinator, Sandro Benelli. This public event will take place on April 19, at 7 p.m., on FGV’s YouTube channel.

In an increasingly dynamic and challenging business environment, it is essential to understand the crucial role that a board of directors plays in the strategic orientation and sustainability of family-controlled businesses. This will be a unique opportunity to explore the topic.

During the event, the professors will discuss the role of a board of directors, the benefits of setting one up and guidelines for selecting its members. They will also explain how a board can boost the growth and success of family businesses and answer questions from the audience. With the aim of informing family business owners about the benefits and appropriateness of creating a board of directors for their business, the webinar will provide specific guidelines for the event’s participants, helping them understand and assess the feasibility of implementing this body, which is in charge of the decision-making process regarding an organization’s strategic direction.
