Online event looks at role of social security in context of pandemic

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo Law School, through its Non-Degree Graduate Law Program (FGV Law), will hold a free webinar on July 21 about the role of social security in the context of the ongoing pandemic. The event will be broadcast live, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm.

The aim of social security is to protect citizens in situations of hardship and uphold their rights to health, a pension and welfare. The social security system, which was already faced with budgetary difficulties and reforms, has been put to the test by COVID-19. Accordingly, the purpose of the webinar is to understand social security’s role in light of the pandemic.

The debate’s participants will be Tonia Andrea Inocentini Galleti, a professor of social security law at FGV Law; and Zélia Luisa Pierdoná, regional federal prosecutor for the Third Region and a professor at Mackenzie University.
