Professional Master’s in Economics and Finance Program launches new Data Science research area
In order to remain at the forefront of teaching and research in its field of activity, the Professional Master’s in Economics and Finance Program at the FGV´s EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) has just launched a new research area: Data Science Applied to Economics. The goal is to prepare students to use state-of-the-art techniques in data science to solve economic problems.
The new Data Science research area will be made available through modules specially adapted to each basic subject in the program (Mathematics, Statistics, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and Econometrics), as well as mandatory specialized subjects (Programming, Computing and Data Engineering, and Machine Learning). The research area also includes data science modules applied to subjects in other areas of economics. The aim is to explore current and relevant topics such as new financial disintermediation structures, blockchain and cloud computing.
There will be an Open Day about the Professional Master’s in Economics and Finance on November 25, to present the course and its new Data Science research area to prospective candidates, as well as the other research areas (Finance, Business Economics, Regulation and Public Policy Assessment, and Infrastructure Economics).
