Program trains lawyers to work in corporate environment
Lawyers’ work in the corporate environment increasingly demands training that is linked to management and business topics. With this fundamental principle in mind, FGV In Company is now offering a personalized master’s program to Mattos Filho, one of Brazil’s largest and most respected law firms.
The master’s program is aimed at training the law firm’s senior lawyers in subjects such as management, enhancing their business vision and leadership capacity at tactical and strategic levels. The program, which began at the end of August, will last for 18 months. The classes will be given at Mattos Filho’s internal training center and at FGV.
The technical topics studied will include people and organizations (encompassing people management, communication for managers, negotiation, interpersonal relationships and integrative group exercises), finance (encompassing accounting, applied economics and business finance), and strategy and business (focusing on business strategy, project management, marketing strategy and the impacts of technology on business).
“Mattos Filho’s initiative is very important, as it puts into practice the need to integrate skills and competencies related to the business environment with the law firm’s recognized technical excellence. It will reinforce the firm’s competitive advantages,” says João Lins, the executive director of FGV In Company.
The program will be overseen by four Mattos Filho professionals: human development director Renata Maiorino, human development manager Raissa Chequer, corporate education coordinator Patricia Soares, and corporate education analyst Mariana Vechies. On FGV’s side, it will be coordinated by professors Artur Motta and Henrique Campos.
