Racism is theme of webinar in black awareness month

The Diversity Program at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School, in partnership with FGV’s Administrative Office and Black Sheep Collective, will hold a webinar on Thursday, November 26 called “Let’s Talk About Racism.” The event will be broadcast on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 5 pm. The aim is to celebrate Black Awareness Day by having a conversation about race, racism and politics in general.
Subjects such as the black movement’s activities, representativeness, Brazil’s social structures and institutional racism in spheres of power will be discussed.
The webinar will be moderated by the coordinator of the Rio de Janeiro Law School’s Diversity Program, Professor Lígia Fabris; and Tayne Miranda, an undergraduate student and Black Sheep Collective member. The debaters will be Leonildes Nazar, a researcher who is doing a doctorate in politics at IESP-UERJ; Wescrey Portes, a researcher who is doing a doctorate in sociology, also at IESP-UERJ; and Rio de Janeiro Law School professors Rio Elisa Cruz and Wallace Corbo.
