On August 15, the former Minister of Agriculture and current director of the Agribusiness Center at Fundação Getulio Vargas, Professor Roberto Rodrigues, will take over the presidency of the National Academy of Agriculture. At the event, FGV's vice president, Sergio Franklin Quintella, Elizabeth Farina, José Milton Dallari and Luís Carlos Guedes Pinto will also take over their seats in the entity.

The National Academy of Agriculture is a forum where the leading thinkers and leaders of the Brazilian rural sector meet, and where debates, exchange of ideas and experiences allow the consolidation of projects and public policy and/or private action proposals that benefit the country with modern and competitive agriculture, said Roberto Rodrigues.

The plan of Roberto Rodrigues as head of the entity is to turn it into an academic environment for discussions for the sector, especially in relation to issues that today are considered threats. And, of course, turn all this to the attention of society as a whole, says the new president.
The National Academy of Agriculture - institution maintained by the National Agricultural Society (SNA) and chaired by Antonio Mello Alvarenga - has a strategic role for Brazilian agribusiness and its goal is to discuss national policies in the sector, related to the environment and research.

The members of the academy include Marcus Vinícius Pratini de Moraes, Antonio Delfim Netto, Pierre Landolt, Jório Dauster, João Carlos Meirelles, Ibsen de Gusmão Câmara, Rubens Ricupero, Israel Klabin, Fábio de Salles Meirelles, among others.

The ceremony will be held at 5 pm at SNA's headquarters, in the center of Rio de Janeiro.
