São Paulo Law School discusses legal challenges in the fashion industry with Alexandre Herchcovitch

In June, students of the Intellectual Property course, taught by Professor Mônica Steffen Guise Rosina at FGV's São Paulo Law School had the opportunity to discuss the management challenges and the protection of concepts in the fashion industry with the designer Alexandre Herchcovitch.
The group of 15 students visited Inbrands' main office - a holding which owns Alexandre Herchcovitch trademark - and was able to hear directly from executives, law directors and the stylist himself what the major challenges are for a market that increasingly demands new forms of legal protection.
The Alexandre Herchcovitch brand is very strong and works together with the legal department to obtain a differentiated legal contract, in order to ensure, primarily, the protection of royalties derived from products, explains the commercial director, Yran Soares.
The meeting also included the participation of Inbrands' CEO, Michael Sarkis; the legal director, Daniel Carneiro; and the attorney, José Orlando A. Arrochela Lobo, partner of Lobo & DeRizzo - office responsible for the corporate structure that articulates all brands managed by Inbrands.
Visits to other companies are being planned for the students of the course, who get to learn in practice more about the legal structure of holdings such as Herchcovitch.
