São Paulo Law School students go to the finals of international competition

Students of São Paulo Law School at Fundação Getulio Vargas (DIREITO SP) reached the qualifying rounds of the 21st edition of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot - competition that has the objective of promoting the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international trade disputes, training future lawyers in methods of alternative dispute resolution. São Paulo Law School ranked among the top 32 Law schools among the 300 participants.The optimal classification is a result of a long preparation which began in August 2013, explained former student Daniel Tavela Luís, responsible for preparing students for the competition together with Luisa Galliez. The preparation included the completion of written testimonials, the participation in preparatory competitions like Veirano Moot and Curitiba Pre Moot, and international competitions such CCI's Pre Moot in Paris, and the Pre Moot event organized by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) at Hague - in which they were runners-up.Former students, former participants of the competition and offices played a key role in this achievement; therefore, they continue contributing to this educational project, explained the legal practice coordinator Cassia Nakano Hirai.Students Bruno Venosa, Higor Borges, Jose Zakia, Klaus Rilke, Lucas Marinho, Luiz Otavio Melo, Melanie von Sta Toledo, Thais Tenani and Yumi Alves were part of the competing team.The meeting was held in Vienna, Austria, on April 10-17.
