Scientist Albert Barabási participates in meeting at EMAp

The School of Applied Mathematics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV/EMAp) welcomed the Hungarian-American professor and scientist Albert Barabási, director of the Northeastern University's Complex Networks Research Center. The meeting took place last Friday, October 18th, and its objective was to start planning the International Conference of Network Science (NetSci) - which EMAp will host and organize in 2015.

The School of Applied Mathematics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV/EMAp) welcomed the Hungarian-American professor and scientist Albert Barabási, director of the Northeastern University's Complex Networks Research Center. The meeting took place last Friday, October 18th, and its objective was to start planning the International Conference of Network Science (NetSci) - which EMAp will host and organize in 2015.

The scientist is recognized for having introduced in 1999 the scale free network concept, which explains the formation of large scale networks, such as the Internet. Barabási also operates in other network fields and his research currently concentrates on the theory of control applications for complex networks. About the NetSci

The NetSci is the main conference on Network Science and brings together the main researchers, professionals and professors in the field to provide interdisciplinary communication and collaboration.

The conference focuses on the development of new directions that will contribute to the areas of Computing, Information, Social, Biological and Environmental Science, in addition to Finance and Business.

The edition in Brazil will be held at the beginning of 2015.
