Seminar launches book on economics and tax reform

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV IBRE) is holding a seminar to launch a book titled “Progressividade tributária e crescimento econômico” ("Progressive Taxes and Economic Growth"). This public event will take place on March 30, at 10 am, in FGV IBRE’s main building in Laranjeiras, Rio de Janeiro.
The book, edited by researcher Manoel Pires, presents articles by various specialists on key issues related to tax reform and the taxation of wealth and income in Brazil, including taxes on profits and dividends, inheritance tax, wealth tax and corporation tax.
The book takes a modern approach based on international best practices, statistical information and economic analysis. The event will be in person and the book, funded by NGO Samambaia Filantropias, will be handed out free of charge.
The speakers will be Manoel Pires, the coordinator of FGV IBRE’s Fiscal Policy Observatory; Bráulio Borges, associate researcher at FGV IBRE; and Sérgio Wulff Gobetti, researcher at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) and technical advice coordinator at the Rio Grande do Sul State Finance Secretariat. The moderator will be Solange Monteiro, the editor of The Brazilian Economy Magazine.
