Summer makes prices of goods and services rise above inflation

According to a survey conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE) at the request of the newspaper O Globo, the price of products and services related to Summer - such as fans, fruits, ice and ice cream distributors - increased 9.11% in the country over the last 12 months, almost the double of the 5.63% average inflation of the Consumer Price Index (IPC).The research shows, for example, that fruits became 16.79% more expensive and soft drinks purchased in stores and bars increased by 11.68%. In stores, air-conditioning prices increased 5.03% compared to last summer and they can still be adjusted, according to IBRE's economist, André Braz.Gyms also became more expensive, with a 7.51% increase. Services exert a great weight on inflation, where memberships for gyms and clubs increased above average inflation, and fruit and beverages prices.
