Sustainable development in Brazilian Amazon is theme of webinar

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP) will hold a free webinar on sustainable development in the Brazilian Amazon on June 21, 2021, at 7 pm. The guest speaker will be the governor of Maranhão, Flávio Dino, who is also the president of the Interstate Consortium for Sustainable Development in the Amazon.

The aim of the meeting is to present and discuss Brazil’s environmental policy, proposals to reduce deforestation, regional development policies, how Brazil ought to position itself in relation to the international environmental policy agenda, and the Amazon’s role in Brazil’s development.

The event is part of the Amazon Dialogues, a digital platform to discuss topics related to sustainable socioeconomic development in the Brazilian Amazon with the whole of society. Twenty meetings will be held in all, featuring private sector leaders, experts, public officials, academics and multidisciplinary personalities from all parts of Brazil.

The moderators will be Márcio Holland, the coordinator of FGV EESP’s Master’s in Finance and Economics Program; and Daniel Vargas, FGVAgro’s research director.
