These public events will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on November 13, the first one starting at 9 a.m.
The Nucleus for Fiscal Studies at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo Law School is holding two webinars about tax reform in Brazil on October 13. These public events will be livestreamed on FGV’s YouTube channel on November 13, the first one starting at 9 a.m.
The webinars will address the theoretical outlines of the concepts of citizenship and fiscal citizenship by presenting their construction process, their political dimension and the contemporary devalued use of the term “citizenship.” They will also debate the roots of conflicts surrounding the practical implementation of tax reform in Brazil, from the point of view of fiscal citizenship and its relationship with traditional ways of thinking about the tax authorities and the state.
There will be two different discussions, in the morning and evening:
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. – Discussion 1
Theoretical aspects of fiscal citizenship in contemporary times
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Discussion 2
Fiscal citizenship in Brazilian tax reform
There will then be closing remarks and the launch of the book “Fiscal Citizenship in the 21st Century: Research by the Nucleus for Fiscal Studies at the FGV Sao Paulo Law School.”
